The Second Annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2014 beginning at 1:00 PM. Once again it will be a festival of color, music, and fun and will feature 8 bag pipe bands, floats, marching bands from area high schools, Irish Step Dancers, antique & classic cars, veteran groups, scouting organizations, non-profit clubs & organizations, schools, novelty acts, and local and area business and civic groups.
For 2014, our goals are still the same; presenting a safe, fun-filled parade for the entire family and promoting the awareness and appreciation of the many contributions the Irish-American community has made to our American culture, business, and government. We want to especially thank Brigadier General Peter (Pete) Dawkins (US Army Retired) for agreeing to serve as our Grand Marshal, as this year we will be honoring the brave men and women of the military for their service to our country.
There will also be several parade fundraisers with Irish music, food, and a few other surprises. (after all, when we have fun, we do have to pay the pipers!) These various fundraisers not only help us pay the parade costs but enable the Board to make donations to various local charities. For a listing of the charities supported last year and those chosen for 2014, click on the Grants Awarded tab.
